Cystic Fibrosis Newborn Screening Collaboratives

Enhancing CF newborn screening through multi-state learning collaboratives.

CPHI is leading multi-state collaboratives that bring together Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Centers and newborn screening programs to improve communication, identify system bottlenecks, and strengthen the overall screening process.

Goals of the Collaboratives

  • Develop and share process improvement strategies that support the timely screening and diagnosis of babies with CF.

  • Provide a format for participants to discuss key challenges and work together to find practical solutions.

  • Establish regular meetings focused on continuous Quality Improvement (QI).

Organized into four topic areas, the collaboratives meet regularly to share solutions and strategies.

  • IRT Cutoffs and Decision-Making

First Thursday of even months at 3 PM ET

  • Education for Parents and Providers

First Monday of even months at 1 PM ET

  • CFTR Sequencing Considerations and Reporting

Third Friday of odd months at 3:00 PM ET

  • Communicating NBS Results to PCPs and CF Centers

First Thursday of odd months at 1 PM ET

We encourage state teams to meet in the off-months as well.
